In an urban setting like Detroit that boasts some of the worlds finest examples of pre-depression architecture, ground-up developments or tear-down projects are not always the best option. This is when we call upon the expertise of our construction staff. With their ability to look beyond the obvious, our team of experts have renovated and revitalized a wide variety of residential, commercial and industrial properties -- many of these being major metropolitan area landmarks. Example #1 -- Building Renovations -- The Guardian Building

Even though the Guardian Building received a major restoration in 1988 our ambition was to restore the structure to its original splendor and once again open the building to public access. This meant tearing down the offices that occupied the mezzanine lobby to make way for a Retail Promenade, renovating the 32 floor banquet and conference facilities and undertaking extensive detail work to maintenance, structural and ornate aspects of the building. The result has been met with resounding approval and has made the Guardian Building the office place of choice for businesses considering relocation. Example #2 -- Adaptive Reuse -- The Lofts of Merchants Row

The Loft of Merchants Row project is a shining example of how vacant, underutilized urban spaces can be transformed into modern, mixed-use facilities offering historic appeal. This project consisted of basically gutting the interiors of the building, while ensuring to maintain all aspects considered historic inside and out. The finishes to the exterior were restored to reveal the original architecture and the interior was converted into luxury one, two and three bedroom loft apartments. All totaled, the final project consists of 157 loft units with 40,000 square feet of first floor retail and an attached state-of-the-art, automated parking deck. Example #3 -- Tenant Build-Out

To accommodate the construction needs of our new and existing tenants Sterling Group provides office build-out services. Whether it's moving walls to make more efficient use of space or remodeling to project a new corporate image our team of space planners and renovation experts can manage the job from concept through to completion.
